Biography
Sehyun Oh earned her PhD in Art History at Columbia University in the City of New York. Her first project, titled Adaptive Beings: Japanese American Art and Environment, 1923–1943, investigates first-generation Japanese American artists, focusing particularly on their aesthetic practices in everyday life, which depict adaptive lives on American soil, including vernacular art and media. Her research primarily engages with the histories of photography, diaspora, art and environment; she is currently extending her interests into animal studies, disease, and medicine in media and popular culture.
