Geinene Carson is a visual artist and creative advocate at the center of art, science and human experience. With a BFA in Painting/ Sculpture, she creates vibrant imagery intentionally blurring the lines of the abstract and physiological – a body of work originating from her daughter’s diagnosis of Phelan-McDermid Syndrome (22q13). She brings expressionistic, experiential fine art to the scientific community, while incorporating scientific research and structure into the world of artistic expression. From her home studio in Atlanta, GA she engages a wide variety of audiences through exhibitions, professional collaborations, writing and speaking on an international level.

Drawn to discovery, scientists and researchers turn to their microscopes. They witness cellular collaboration in bridging a gap resulting from injury—cell by cell, uniting in the act of restoration.
Created in collaboration with Soto Lab, this image captures the work of researchers striving for insight into the zebrafish. With the remarkable ability to regenerate after spinal cord injury, zebrafish embryos provide an optimal platform for experimentation, helping researchers map spinal cord restoration at a cellular level.
Beyond the potential advancements in human regenerative medicine, their work invites deeper reflection. What areas in our lives need restoration?
