Losing; Keeping is a personal exhibition that explores attachment, memory, distance, and time. Featuring MFA candidate in Painting + Drawing, Annemarie DiCamillo and Los-Angeles based artist Luke McCusker, the collaborative works were created over a period of two years and hinge on poetic and nonverbal interaction. Beginning as a series of prints and continuing in response as books, paintings, sculptures, and film, the works on exhibition are an ongoing attempt by each artist to preserve the memory of the other while acknowledging the erosion of recollection over time, the danger of elevating the past over the present, and the possibility that an attachment to remembrance precludes the emergence of newness. Losing; Keeping suggests that the efforts of an artist are most meaningful when they emerge from the personal, acting as a point of entry and of a way of being together in the world.
