Join us for two short films by Swiss-American photographer-filmmaker Robert Frank in collaboration with the Beat poets. “Pull My Daisy” (co-directed with Alfred Leslie, 1959), a milestone of avant-garde cinema based on Jack Kerouac’s unfinished play Beat Generation, narrated by Kerouac, and featuring fellow Beats Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, and Peter Orlovsky alongside celebrated French actress Delphine Seyrig; and “This Song for Jack” (1983), a freewheeling documentary film shot at the Jack Kerouac conference hosted by Boulder’s Naropa Institute in 1982 and featuring many luminaries of the Beat Generation.
The program runs approximately one hour and will be accompanied by an introduction and Q&A. Free and open to the public! Sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Modernisms Workshop (UGA ModSquad).
