Emma Knapp (b. 2000, Rome, Georgia) is a painter based in Athens, Georgia.
Emma focuses on figure painting, particularly portraiture and narrative paintings, drawing inspiration from film and art history for her subjects. Typically housed in imagined spaces, the figures themselves are often introspective and allegorical, and seek to explore the layers and complexities of human experience. Emma received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting from the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia in May 2023.
Emma’s most recent shows include “The House is a Wreck,” in 2023, produced with fellow painter Peyton Michelle, as well as “Where the Sidewalk Ends,” the Spring 2023 BFA Exit show at Lamar Dodd School of Art. Prior to this, Emma showed work in “La Mostra”, in Cortona, Italy, and its subsequent reunion show in January 2023. In 2019, she exhibited work at the University of North Georgia and was a recipient of the Hugh Mills Jr. scholarship.
Emma currently works as a student advisor for the Cortona program, and is seeking a Master of Art Education to continue her work helping students to pursue their creative endeavors.
