Three faculty and four graduate students in the Lamar Dodd School of Art photography & expanded media area were selected to present work at the University of Iowa’s 2022 National Photography Invitational. Juried by Milwaukee Art Museum Assistant Curator of Photography Ariel Pate, the exhibition will be on view at the Ana Mendieta & Drewelowe Galleries at the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History from October 3 through October 29, 2022.
The exhibition showcases the work of 27 students and 16 professors of 5 graduate photography programs, including the University of Georgia, the University of Iowa, the University of Arkansas, Syracruse University, and the University of Nebraska.
The 2022 invitational examines the reciprocal influences of teaching and learning. The selected photographs in the exhibition convey the roles of trust and interpretation inherent to both teacher and student. Themes of family, self, society, landscape, and artistic landscape are on display via each photographer’s distinct approach to media and framing techniques.
