CHALKFEST: 2019 Sidewalk Chalk Competition

The Dodd Ambassadors introduces Lamar Dodd School of Art’s first-ever sidewalk chalk competition, CHALKFEST! We invite you to come show off your skills and decorate our Art Garden with chalk masterpieces. Not interested in competing? Come anyway for awesome art, food, and music from local vendors.

All proceeds go to support the Art Supply Pantry.

Information about parking and directions can be found here. Paid parking is available at the Performing Arts Center beginning at 3 PM and free parking is available in the E07 Lot beginning at 4 PM. The E07 Lot is located directly across from the Art Garden.

Sidewalk Chalk Competition

Groups of up to four members will compete for gift baskets of gift cards and goodies graciously donated from Athens businesses and restaurants. Competitors are invited to create a chalk drawing on a concrete square in the Art Garden of the Dodd. Participants will have three hours to work on their square. Squares will then be judged by Lamar Dodd School of Art Staff and prizes will be awarded to the first and second place contestants.

• Chalk is $5 per bucket, per team
• Feel free to bring your own supplies (tape, brushes, charcoal etc)
• Paint is NOT allowed
• Sidewalk “squares” vary in size and will be assigned on a first come first serve basis.

Local Vendors and Food Trucks

Enjoy food and art from our local vendors. Free and open to the public.

• Space for a table can be reserved for $10
• Bring your own table or rent a table for an additional $10
