The Dodd is Hiring Faculty Positions in Sculpture, Design, and More

The Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia is currently accepting applications for a number of positions. The nationally ranked School of Art has over 50 full-time faculty members in studio art, design, art education, and art history, administering undergraduate and graduate programs to over 1,000 students. Its vibrant community fosters a creative atmosphere for innovation. Faculty are provided numerous resources for advancing research including a private studio, computer, access to a wide array of tools and technology, and opportunities for travel and research funding.


Design and Core Lecturer

The Dodd is seeking to fill a non-tenure track Lecturer to teach both Studio Art Core (Foundations) and Graphic Design Courses beginning in the Fall 2019. This position carries a 4+4 instructional load.

We are seeking a candidate that aims to develop a common knowledge base at the intersection of the arts and design. Ideal candidates should demonstrate a teaching practice that addresses a myriad of contemporary social issues by way of engaging foundational art studio and design concepts. This individual will work intimately with the heads from various design and studio areas, namely Studio Art Core and Graphic Design, to teach courses and build curricula that employ a variety of pedagogies. Through their teaching, the successful candidate will pursue original approaches to media and fabrication integral to craft, design and conceptual art making approaches.

Assistant Professor of Sculpture

The Dodd is seeking to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of Sculpture with expertise in expansive approaches to spatial practice beginning no later than fall 2019. The position includes a commitment to teaching two courses per semester, at undergraduate and graduate levels, potentially including cross-disciplinary and team-teaching opportunities. The successful candidate will become a vital member of the collaborative community of the Lamar Dodd School of Art, expanding and developing curricula, participating in essential service to the School and the field, and engaging in student mentorship.

Academic Professional Associate – Art Studio Technician

This is a 12-month non-tenure track academic professional appointment with administrative responsibilities. There are no research responsibilities. The successful candidate will teach between one and three courses per calendar year with the rest of the time being dedicated to the studio technician duties.
