Jewelry & Metalwork Student Work Receives Awards at Lyndon House Juried Exhibition

Congratulations to Jewelry and Metalwork seniors Camille Taylor and Yajing Yan, and graduate student Thomas Bosse (MFA 2017) for their inclusion in the 42nd Annual Juried Exhibition at the Lyndon House Arts Center in Athens. Yan received the Nancy Lukasiewicz Award, and both Taylor and Bosse received Merit Awards.

This year’s show was selected by guest juror Ms. Susan Krane, Oshman Executive Director of the San Jose Museum of Art. Ms. Krane visited Athens and the Lyndon House for two days in January to review Athens area artist submissions. In those two days, 313 artists entered 797 works of art and she ultimately curated a concise group show of 162 works from large sculpture, works on paper, photography, painting to fiber and metalwork. Susan Krane, formerly the Director at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and the University of Colorado Art Museum, also served as the Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the High Museum of Art from 1987 – 1995.

The exhibition continues through May 6, 2017. All exhibitions are free and open to the public during regular gallery hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 pm – 9:00 pm, and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. The Lyndon House is located in downtown Athens at 211 Hoyt Street.

Every Thursday in the month of April, the Lyndon House will host gallery talks with exhibition artists that will take place from 6 – 7:00 pm on April 6, 13, 20 and 27.
