When is the best time to study in Cortona?
Cortona has many wonderful things to offer during each of the spring,
summer, and fall sessions. To be eligible, students must be rising
juniors or higher. Many students receive as a gift participation
in the Cortona Program during the term just after graduation. This
can be an excellent step toward graduate school or career preparation.
Graduate or undergraduate credit is available.
Is Italian required to study in Cortona?
Of course it would be beneficial to take Italian before or during
the program; however, all classes are taught in English. Italian
classes, when offered can enrich the experience of students in
Cortona.
If I study abroad, will it delay graduation?
If you plan with your academic advisor and have your courses approved
as part of your academic program, it will not delay graduation.

The University of Georgia converted to the semester system beginning
in the fall of 1998.
How can I afford to study abroad?
In many cases the cost of studying in Cortona is comparable to
studying
at The University of Georgia with the addition of the cost of transportation
to Italy. This has been proven by students who add together all
of
their costs of living in Athens in comparison to their costs of
living
in Cortona. Students from many other institutions find that studying
in Cortona is less expensive than studying at their home campus.
In addition, a limited number of stipends and scholarships are
available on a competitive basis. Look on the "academics" page

site under "financial aid" for a listing of available
stipends.
Can I apply my financial aid to study abroad?
In most cases your financial aid will apply. Your financial aid
counselor
can work with you to re-calculate your aid package to reflect the
cost of studying abroad and to complete the necessary paper, work.
Immediately, check with the financial aid at your institution (institutions
vary), the Study Abroad Office, and the reference section of the
library (i. e. Financial Aid for Research, Study, Travel, & Other
Activities Abroad, 1990-1991 by Schlachter and Weber) regarding
funds

How does the cost of studying in Cortona compare to other programs?
Few, if any, offer the value of the Cortona Program. The 1998 cost
per week is less than $650.00, other programs cost between $700.00
and $1,200.00 per week. Our program includes travel while with
the group, housing, two meals a day during weekdays, 12 - 15 semester
hours of university credit, and the international student identification
card. Trans-atlantic airfare is not included in the cost. |
