Dodd School of Art hosts International Symposium in Cortona,
Italy
During the late spring/early summer of 2001, the
University of Georgia
hosted the first "Cortona International Symposium; A Print
Odyssey." Over 300 artists and scholars from
all over the world gathered in
Cortona from May 30-June 2, 2001 in order to consider notions of
modern day pilgrimage and the cultural and spiritual aspects of
journey
as it relates to printmaking, bookarts, inter-media and electronic
forms. The Symposium offered a lively range of exhibitions, performances,
panel presentations, receptions and late night shows.
In attendance
were such notables as Lesley Dill (keynote speaker), Willie Cole,
Gail Deery, Lorenzo de Castro, Judy Brodsky, Mari Mater O'Neill,
David Kiehl, Robert Stackhouse, Faye Hirsch, Unica T, Frances
Myers, Adriane Herman, Brian Reeves, Magdalena Campos-Pons, Eileen
Foti, Lynne Allen, Pepon Osorio, James Siena, Carol Weaver, Carinna
